English Classes for Foreign Degreed

Internationally Trained Professionals

🧭 What is the ITP Program?

Internationally Trained Professionals (ITP) are adult English language learners who already have a degree or professional credentials from their home country. The ITP program helps them use their existing skills, education, or credentials to access U.S. career opportunities, certifications, or further training.

✅ Who Can Participate

Participants in the ITP program:

  • Are adults who have earned degrees, diplomas, or certifications outside the U.S.

  • English Language Learners who need support with English for professional or workplace settings.

  • Want to:
    • Advance or reenter their existing profession, or
    • Move into a new middle-skill job aligned with their credentials or experience.

🔧 What Services They Get

In the ITP program, students may receive:

  • English language instruction tailored for professionals and workplace contexts (specialized vocabulary, speaking, writing).

  • Credential evaluation (to translate or verify foreign credentials for U.S. standards) is needed for their career path.

  • Support navigating U.S. job/education systems: resume preparation, interview skills, professional networking, and career counseling.

  • Pathways into Integrated Education & Training (IET) or IELCE (if required), which ties English learning with career skills training or workplace preparation.

📍 Why It Matters / Benefits

  • Utilizes qualifications, experience, and education already acquired abroad instead of starting from scratch.

  • Helps overcome barriers like English proficiency, unfamiliarity with U.S. systems, or licensing challenges.

  • Provides faster access to better job opportunities or advancement in their career field.

  • Helps reduce under-employment among skilled professionals who came from other countries (“brain waste”)
